Thought - Do we need brokers in between to forcefully distribute our taxes to the so called poor man who does not know what tax is. Come on its our money and we get to choose if it should go as alms or otherwise. Read on and think before you vote: "We need a government who spends on upbringing the lifestyle of the city rather than creating a fast growing section of people who do not feel the pinch of being UNEMPLOYED" - Read on - This is an article from the IE

Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa have started behaving like the famous Ranganathan Street vendors. The ‘buy one get one free’ slogan of the street vendors has been modified into a political slogan ‘Give one vote. Get everything free’.
In their one-upmanship, Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi have now virtually offered for free three-fourths of the daily and essential needs of a person (obviously below that unknown invisible poverty line). They have to now announce only one more freebie: “We will fix the alliance for the eligible bride/bridegroom in your family and one wedding in every family will be bankrolled by the Government”. Having brokered every imaginable deal, they can easily also become marriage brokers. With their vast experience in rationalism, vasthu, astrology, the two leaders can even offer free astrological advice to every citizen.
For any discerning voter, it would be obvious that the cost of all freebies is again met only by the aam aadmi. The Tamil Nadu Government makes nearly `14,000 crores from its 24X7 liquor sales. According to NGO studies, now every family in the state now has a liquor addict or a habitual drinker.
No doubt the freebies are bad for both the beneficiary and the giver in the long run. No sane economist will ever concede that freebies promote development and per capita capacity to earn and spend. But the short-term goal of gaining votes is what matters to K and J.
What depresses me is the hypocritical attitude of the so-called thinking class, the elite, which includes me and you, the readers. When money is given free to poor, they ridicule it as freebies. Free sops to the industry, though, are called tax exemption by the same elite. Concessions to the poor are called grants and those to the rich are called incentives. In essence both are claimed to be done with the noble motive of lessening the burden of the poor/rich so that they can perform better in their endeavours.
At every citizens’ meeting I have addressed over the last few years, I have asked the audience to raise their hands if they have opted to refuse the free television set. It is depressing to note that very few hands go up. All those who deplore A and J for opening a Pandora’s box of freebies, themselves receive them despite not needing them at all. During flood relief programmes, the elite come in cars to receive the flood relief money given on every ration card of the affected area even though their sturdy houses have not been affected.
In a society consisting of millions of ignorant masses and thousands of educated ‘knowledgeable’ hypocritical elite, only leaders of the caliber of K and J can emerge. Or their clones like Ramadoss or Vijayakanth.

My vote goes to the candidate who does not base their campaign on freebies. Come on who needs them anyways..
